  • Aussie Mitsubishi Magna - Fabricated TS/Dash recessed components

Did this install about a year ago, worklog can be found here. Not much done to it since then, but i thought I might make it an official finished project and make this thread.

    The Car:
    MY02 Mitsubishi Magna TJ VR-X
This car is Australian made car though we export to the US under the badge 'Diamante'. The stock magna outputs around 200hp from a 3.5-litre, 24-valve, V6 petrol engine.

    Hardware:
    7 inch lilliput touchscreen
    VIA MII-12000 motherboard
    M2-ATX power supply
    200 GB 3.5' HDD
    512 DDR RAM
    D-Link wireless USB LAN
    Ebay USB receiver
Sound blaster live! 24 bit external USB
    Turn-On Pop Stopper
    Kenwood 600w 4ch amp
    300w 6x9 rears
    stock front splits

    Software:
    Windows XP Pro
    Media Engine front end
    Winamp & WMP
    Destinator 3 SDK
    Map Monkey
    Aus D3 Maps
    Nokia phone manager (internet)

My car... with an awesome view of my home town Airlie Beach, Queensland. My car colour matches the water Booyeah.

    The carputer

The computer sits in a custom perspex case 200x180x100mm dimensions. The stock double DIN cage mounts were cut off and screwed onto the side of the case for removable mounting.

I fabricated the screen into the dash using various products including epoxy glue, bondo filler, spray putty, primers and some cheap paint.

    Continued Worklog... Upgrades in progress:
*15.4" WXGA LED backlight touchscreen upgrade
    *Custom fiberglass dash bezel

Very nice install, it looks like a Mitsubishi installed option. Not easy to acheive OEM looks.
              Carputer Haiku (thanks Ian Hughes)
              Serious error.
              All shortcuts have disappeared.
