  • Z's 2002 Maxima - "MaximaPC"

zero2sixtyZ here, logging my new project, MaximaPC.

    Car:
2002 Nissan Maxima SE 6speed, Modified
Current stereo: Eclipse CD5425 headunit, Metra 7551 adapter to stock Bose speakers/subwoofer.

    Purchased:
    - Shuttle KPC K45 Barebones
    - Intel E4500 Core2Duo Processor
    - Crucial 2x1GB DDR2 RAM
    - Fujitsu 160GB 2.5" SATA HDD
    - OPUS 150W DC-DC PSU (XPC model)
    - Lilliput EBY701 7" Touchscreen
    - OEM Nissan GXE Dash Kit
    - Bybyte 629-701 ABS Plastic LCD Frame

    Software:
    - Windows XP Professional SP3
    - RoadRunner Front End w/ CarWings Skin and Centrafuse
    - AutoEnginuity OBDII w/ Nissan Enhanced Interface
    - Jailbroken iPhone 3G w/ Air Mouse Pro

    Next on list:
    - BU-353 GPS Receiver
    - Wifi Adapter
    - USB Hubs/Extensions / VGA Cabling / RCA Ccables
    - Panasonic UJ-875 DVD/RW Slot-load Optical Drive
    - USB Enclosure for optical drive

    Future:
    - (XM Module)
    - (TPMS System w/ PC interface)
    - Shuttle ICE-Genie Cooling Fan/Heatsink

Hardware stage: Shuttle has been built, screen assembled, needs wiring run through car.
Software stage: System is running, installed RoadRunner and Centrafuse (leaning towards due to ease of use and clean design), and doing research while tinkering with creating my own skins.

how do you like autoenginuity? I also have it with enhanced nissan interface for my g35. I found it a bit slow to connect. Much slower than what I use now (uprev).

I've seen and heard a lot better things about the UpRev. I got the AE w/ Nissan interface for a good price so I jumped on it. I might just keep it for the basic changes it can make like timing adv, etc... and possibly go to a regular OBDII scanner. The AE has given me issues in the past and is not as smooth as I'd prefer.

Screen mounted, wiring completed, still working on a perfect mounting location for the Shuttle in the trunk w/ new floor. Sound is working, video, touchscreen, its all a go.

Still to do: Get GPS receiver, upgrade soundcard, make cover for screen, add USB hub, and hardwire screen power to power supply of computer.

exact same car as mine, except different hardware. Looking good so far, but don't be afraid to get dirty and bondo the screen to that bezel! It'll be well worth the effort.

Thanks for the comments guys. I actually like the way its setup right now. I will be adjusting the screen better and filling in the gaps with plastic or foam soon. I'm not a fan of bondo at all, unless Nexson or someone made a custom bezel for me.

My biggest challenge right now is mounting the Shuttle in the trunk. Do most people just have a fake / wooden trunk floor and bolt it down?
