  • 2000 Mitsubishi Magna TH CarPC, Relayboard

    Hey guys,

I thought its time to post up here, I have a complete carpc setup ready to go in. I built the OS, loaded the music, tested drivers, boot times, etc... last week and now its ready to go in (Just need to find time).

I have a couple of things that I need help with though.

    1. I have a lilliput EBY701 USB touchscreen, when I switch the car on, the default position is "Off", I would like to remove the buttons and get a DDIN facia for the screen however at present I need to press the power button before it switches on. Is there any way I can have it automatically switch on?

    2. How exactly can I run the carpc without a head unit? I have 2 amplifiers (4 channel and 2 channel/bridged for the sub), but the RCA output seems to just give the amps full-power so the speakers buzz. Diverting via a head unit will get rid of the buzz, but I want to completely drop it. Can I use a potentiometer or something to lower the output level of the RCAs?

Oh, and of course some pics during the build stage:

    Cheers,
    Dean

I'm just responding quickly, but lowering the RCAs seems silly. Why waste the power? Lower the gain on your amplifiers or get a loop isolator of some sort. Buzzing means there's noise in the line or something.

Not much has progressed here, I need to visit Jaycar for some parts and rewire all my custom electronics in to the relayboard. Yesterday I received my USB radio, will have to hack that apart and install the stock car antenna socket

For future use, there is a FAQ thread on the EBY-701 here. And here is a link to the auto-on thread.

Why dont you check with the local stereo shops and Bestbuy to make sure they dont have an adapter first?

Great. I just finished putting my pc in the vehicle now I just have to write my finished project thread on it. So far I love my EBY 701.

It's definately an awesome screen, I'm finding it much more responsive on Windows 7 using touchkit then it was on XP (also touchkit) as well!

Really? Im on XP and really havnt noticed any problems with it. I was on 7 for awhile but software just seems to run better on XP.

I had it running on Windows XP before (used to be installed in my housemates 300ZX) and the touchscreen drivers would actually bluescreen the PC! It's been about a year since it was installed on XP last though, so I don't know... Driver support may be better now or something, my main reason for running 7 was actually the hibernation features. I can achive a sub-30 second cold boot straight into Centrafuse using hibernation
