  • Opel Astra G Sedan CarPC

Hi guys, I've been reading these forums for a good couple of months now and I've finally started my carpc
I live in Sydney Australia, so my car is actually a 2002 Holden Astra TS Sedan but I've re-badged it back to an Opel

I guess I'll start with a photo of the car (I'm eventually putting a body kit on it, new rims, colourcoding etc, but wanted to get the carpc up and running first).

    Now on with the PC:

This is what my Dash/console looked like (after I installed plasma dials, red and blue leds etc... everything was an ugly orange/yellow from stock, more info about my car in my car thread at opelaus.com):

I started to fabricate the console to install my 7" touchscreen monitor:

I installed the computer in my glove box, the console is still unfinished (needs more fill, sand, prime, paint), I just wanted to make sure everything was working:

When I first got it up and running, I installed Ride Runner, I've been using that and trialing Centrafuse trying to work out exactly what works for me:

I installed my GPS and WiFi dongles in the base of my rear view mirror. This isn't the stock mirror from an Astra, its a Auto dimming mirror from an Opel Vectra, so the base is larger and allows me to fit the USB HUB and peripherals inside it. I'm eventually going to put some black vinyl on the windscreen to hide the devices and keep it looking OEM:

I'll try and keep this worklog up to date as I build this thing.
    Thanks for checking it out

Looks like a great start. I'm subscribed!

BTW, I tried to check out the forum for your car but it requires registration (which I'm not prepared to do) just to view your thread.

Yeah, It sucks that you have to be logged in to view it....
I might transfer all the information/photos to my own personal hosting so its viewable by everyone.
