  • 1973 Lotus Europa Special #2936R -- Full Worklog -- BoyRacer0013

The time has come for me to start a worklog as work will hopefully be starting on the lotus soon. But first a little about the car, #2936R, we Europa freaks call out cars by their numbers. Now I could trace it all the way back to its production date, but that is boring, so I will just say what I plan to do to #2936R. It will get 4 wheel disk brakes, a Ford Zetec engine with a turbocharger, MegaSquirt ECU, 5-point harness, new wheels & tires, all new rubber, probably all new glass, loads of body work, lots of cool lights, new interior, and a full computer system.

I have divided the computers into two basic systems, the basic level and the main level. The idea in doing this is to have a setup so that if I wanted to I could drive the car without running the main level computer, but the basic level computer will likely be an always-on system.

The main level computer system hardware will be:
    - Motherboard - ASUS F1A75-M
    - CPU - AMD A6-3650
    - RAM - Patriot Viper Xtreme Performance Desktop Memory Kit - 4GB (2 x 2GB)
    - SSD - OCZ 60G Vertex 3
    - PSU - M4-atx
    - Center console display - Lilliput FA1011-NP/C/T
    - Gauge display - Lilliput 869GL-80NP/C/T
    - Passenger display - Lilliput 869GL-80NP/C/T
    - Motorcycle amp - whatever I find cheap when I need the amp
    - Speakers - I think I have a set laying around somewhere
    - Dash mounted USB hub - ?
    - Computer bay USB hub - ?
    - Wifi - ? USB adapter
    - Bluetooth - ?
    - GPS - BU-353 Weather-proof

    Main level software:
    - Tunning software - TunerStudio
    - Front End - waiting to see what happens with OM and FreeICE
    - OS - depends on FE, preferably Ubuntu

    Basic level:
    - Primary logic board - Arduino Mega
    - Secondary logic board - Arduino Uno
    - Displays - serial 128x64 LCD - x2
    - Temp sensors - thermistor - x6
    - Heading sensor - HMC6352 Compass Module
    - Engine start button - some type of arcade style button

Well I think this is a good start, any input or opinions?
