Heres a pic of it installing XP running off of my battery charger in my living room.....Looks good so far. I decided to use the 12.1" screen. It wasn't to hard to get it to run off the 12 volt power supply.

I'll post some more pics on the site tonight or tomorrow.

            Enjoy

Well, I still haven't gotten around to updating the site. I have made some progress though. I got the wireing just about done in the truck. Ran an 8ga wire from the battery to up under the center console with gold plated connectors and distrabution block. Ran a Acc wire to another distribution block under the console. And added a grounding block in about the same place. I mounted the DVD rw drive in the case, Mounted the case fan and drilled vent holes. Mounted a fan controller in the case and added a 2 port USB 2.0 header to the front of the case.

I went looking for some kind of plug to connect the PC to the car with. I wanted 4 pins, 1 for battery power, 1 for ACC, 1 for ground and one for the 12V lead out to power the screens. I didn't want to use a molex connector because I didn't want there to be a chance of anyone plugging it in wrong. I found a 4 prong trailer connector and decided it would be perfect. I wanted all the cables to be color coded for where they went so I kept the colors coming off the m1-atx red, white, and black. and added the yellow wire for the screen power. soldiered it all together and gave it a good coat of liquid tape. Should work very nicly

I ordered a gforce fx 128mb pci dual head graphics card $50 and two more laptop hard drives a 60gb and a 40gb $135 shipped. I bought earthmate gps at frys for $99.99. I just won an auction on ebay for a replacment stereo bezel to hack for the 8" screen since I can't connect to my stereo very easily. Then I can put my original away for safe keeping. I'll probably get a new overhead console for the same reasons and make the 12.1" screen drop down. I'm still waiting on the two 7.2" screens for the back.

I have been taking lots a pics, Just haven't posted any anywhere.

Ok, Now I am going to go take a shower and head out and make it all run off the car for the first time

                Hello,

Was hopin to see some pics of the truck. I like the HD version especially the two tone paint I've seen on the ones I've noticed. I have a '03 XTR F150 and am just getting started on a project too. I purchased a complete P3 mini atx sys to start for $10 and am planning to replace the factory head unit with a touch screen. I was curious about where you mounted the pc? I was thinking of under the front seat in the middle. As well, how much did you get the dash piece for? Mine has a glossy wood grain piece that I've never liked and was plainning on replacing with a black or tan one anyways.

Thanks again and good luck with the sys.

                Dylan

I actualy did go with the touch screen in the dash. I haven't been updating pictures to much. I bought another radio bezel and cut it and streched it to fit my 10.4" touch screen. I did it all with abs so it shouldn't ever crack. I'll attach a picture of where I am with it so far. It is a very slow process, the abs takes days to dry in thick areas. And I just started a new job so I haven't had near as much time to spend on this. When you start out to do it you think oh, this will be nothing, but then it goes on forever...LoL.

As far as the speakers go. No, You can use your car speakers. You just go from the output of your computer into the factory amp in your truck. There is a little more involved but thats basicly it.

I am still working on The AC controls. I would like to make it run off the computer too.

Then I ordered a sheet of 1/8" abs and cut out the rough shape of the top and bottom that I wanted. I sanded, and heated them until they fit in perfectly where I wanted them. I clamped them and gooped them in from the back, waited for that to dry and unclamped them and and started layering thin coats on the top. sanding them in between coats seems to help it to dry, You have to break the seal on the surface for it to dry inside quicker.

One more thing I should mention. The replacment bezel was only painted on the outside. Before I glued anything to the outside I sanded it to bare plastic.
