• My 1992 Nissan 300ZX progress...

I recently purchased a Conzult cable (OBD-I) from PLMS Developments that is used to monitor all sensors, datalog, and read the ECU's on-board diagnostics very easily. The interface box for the cable now resides below my steering column...(the LEDs let you know when the cable is connected, transfering data, etc)

The serial connection of the cable is routed to my glove box, to make hook-up to my laptop easy and out of the way.

I mainly use Nissan Data Scan v1.4...here's a screenshot of the Data Display...

OK...so that's really it so far...I'd like to stick a Mini-ITX in the glove box to handle Data Scan, MP3s, and maybe GPS, but I'm leaning towards using a laptop and docking station in the passenger side floorboard to do the job. I'm looking for a Sony Vaio with a 12.1" screen...I want something as small, light, and as portable as possible.

Current Audio Setup: JVC KD-SH77 HU, Alpine mids/highs, Kenwood 600w Amp, 10" MTX Thunder6000 sub...but the heavy box, sub, and amp have been removed for racing purposes.

    Pic of the car:

So, if I find the laptop/docking station that suits my needs...I find a way to make it work. As for a screen, I'd prefer to have something removable...but I might go ahead and mold a 7" into the radio bezel...we'll see. Just thought I'd share...thanks for lookin'

I always loved that car. That body style is one of a kind. So much better than the new ones.

hmmm I'm wondering if I can add odbI monitoring to my 240sx. The website mentions something about needing a Consult connector.... what does this connector look like?

              This is cool!
Although, a mini-itx solution would be sweet!

How is the consult working out for you? I need a good diagnostic tool for my 240 I was looking at the plms board, and an eprom emmulator for doing live edit. can the software you are using take an extra input, say from a wideband o2?

I'm not running the Consult software, just DataScan. I actually sold the laptop I ran it on, so I need to find something else to use with it. I love my PLMS cable...thier product is good quality, IMHO. The DataScan software won't accept any other inputs such as wideband 02.

Yea, those have been one of my favorite cars as well.....

I've played with one of those 12" sony laptops and they are pretty nice, not personally a sony fan myself but it is definitely small and light. You might also want to check into Dell, they have a Laptop X1 that is incredibly small/thin/light, doesn't have a builtin cd drive but depends how you will be using it, but you really won't believe how light it is until you pick it up.
