Well I figured it was time to start a worklog to show my progress even though I'm not finished. I've been perusing the forums here for a few years and I would'nt have gotten this far with out all the help and ideas from all of you at mp3car.

Let me know what you all think.

The design has changed a lot since i started the project at the begining of Sep. And it will change much more before I'm done.

These are some incremental pics. Later tonight I will have a page with all the pics on it.

I have a sheet of Acrylic showing up tomorrow that I will be make a case that fits around the AC duct. And some ABS plastic that will be used to extend the mold up over the ashtray where I will make a new door that goes the entire width to expose the 12v plugs and some variour ports that will be in the place of the ashtray.

BTW: the specs for the pc are

    i-Base MB896
    Pentium M 2.0 ghz
    Corsair DDR2 533 1GB
    Seagate 200GB SATA
    OPUS 120w PSU
    Pioneer DVR-K04L

eventualy I will be booting off a 4GB CF card and have GPS, WiFi all the goodies.

I put this page together today to host all the pictures I have so far. There are many more than what I posted here. I'm in the process of doing a little write up and explaination, will update later tonight.

yeah i think you shouldnt have put the screen there. if i was you which i wish i had that dash. i would have fabbed the screen in place of the ac and radio and just put the ac controls and a radio if your gonna put one down where you put the screen now.it would look more custom and alot more factory at the same time.

I seriously thought about it. I would have rathered the screen been there, it would be easier to see and use but I cound find it in my self to do with out that AC vent, Houston summers are hell. The monitor is the Xenarc 1020TSV and due to its width it would have cut into the vent. I thought about doing that still but useing a 12" or even a 15" but I thought that would be to much

Thanks. I have sanded enough to last me a life time already, and I know I'm not a 1/8 of the way done. I like how everyone here says how easy fiber glassing is .. Sure itís easy in the since of "Not Difficult" but damn is it a PAIN it the @s* and time consuming

Yeah it worked out great with the location of the pc, plenty of room down there.
I don't like the hardboard tray and aluminum leg bit, so I got some plexi and I'm gonna make a formal case for it all this weekend.

Also, to anyone who might want more info I updated my site with some brief explanations to what, how and why

I have an Orbital sander that I used mostly. They do pretty much the same thing and I cant see spending the money. I had (what I think is) a good idea for making the beveled edges to the screen. It's been proving next to impossible to get them straight and perfect. I'm gonna try makeing a picture frame out of ABS and gluing it in place, then finish up to it. I will give this a shot this weekend.

grind it down. i know that **** is hard as a ******* ROCK! i used it once on my dashpiece and some fell on the floor. it took me 5 months before i went and just wacked the **** out of it with a hammer for it to come off. lol grind it down realllly good. it doesnt have to be perfect because you can go over it with bondo lightweight filler. when you sand that down it will be perfect.
