  • Questions about this case...

    http://store.mp3car.com/Morex_3677_M..._p/enc-028.htm

The url is deceptive, it's actually an ATX case.

I have a microATX board and plan on getting the OPUS 250. Will this mount easily or will I need to fabricate something to get it to fit nicely?

Also, is there a smaller micro atx case somewhere in the vast internet? (It claims to be the smallest to support full cards, but i won't be using any, just USB peripherals.)

micro ATX mounts up to ATX cases just fine. The motherboards are simply not as long.
And yes, there are lots of microATX cases on the market.

thanks, what about using the opus 250 in this specific case, will it easily mount to the spot the desktop psu is supposed to mount to?

Well I found a great deal on a dell gx270 small form factor case which is a little smaller, (by a few inches each way) that I am going to go with instead.

My microATX board will fit just fine. The one I want has the drives included, so all I need to add is the HDD.

Does anyone know what size the HDD should be for this case? The website makes it seem like it's just a full size 3.5" HDD, but the optical drive is a slim drive, so I wanted to make sure.

We use GX270 here at work and I work with them all the time. They do NOT use standard ATX boards. The boards used in this case are placed over a non standard motherboard plate and then this plate slides onto 2 clips that lock the plate to the case. You are going to have to modify the mounting plate with the holes to mount your mini board and you are going to have to use screw standoffs because the plate is aluminum and you do not want to short it out. Also, it does use a standard 3.5" hdd but uses a slim cd rom so you might need an adapter to power the slim drive because I dont think that opus has the floppy drive molex

            I have a microATX board, which is 9.6" x 9.6"
Are you absolutely sure this won't fit? (I'm not shy with modifying the case to add standoffs...)

One ebay auction states it in the title and description that it will fit:

I'm willing to bet that the Dell case has enough physical space and the only issue is the standoff locations.
Break out the tap & die kit.

No, I am pretty sure that it will fit, its just that holes wont. There is no motherboard holes on that motherboard plate, only 4 clips that slip into the the dell motherboard. Then, that plate clips on to the case itself. I gotta see if I can open up one of the cases here at work and take a pic so u can better visualize what I mean.

cool, that's what I thought. I know that dell likes to use trays and clips. (Dell HDD is screwed into a tray that slides into the HDD holder)

So should I try and grab the MoBo tray too and tap the mounting holes to that, or will the mobo i have fit in the clips, or should I just tap the case itself?

Also, Where is a good place to get stand-offs locally?

Thanks, it definitely makes more sense now. I won't be using the tray, so I'll just put my stand-offs into the case itself.

                      Thanks for your help.

Got one coming, and I guess the source is sending the floppy and CD drive with cables too, Are these standard Drive cables (for power as well) or are they proprietary? (I could also just wait till I get the case, and see for my self...)
Also, if it's really different, it's coming from a GX150.

                          My question is:
                          http://www-pc.uni-regensburg.de/hard...sg/smdsktp.htm
This website shows the SFF case as having an EIDE cable, and sorry for my ignorance on this, but will this work with my SATA (I think, I'll have to look later when I get home) hard drives. The web has an overwhelming amount of info. And I was getting conflicting answers... Please help!

here's a pic of exactly what i'm getting:
