Iīm from Portugal, Europe, and ordered one boomzbox. HD Radio is not supported here. DAB is what is used for digital. The reception is good, much better than for example the Silabs radio. Even with only one wire as antenna works good.
The main disavantage, like I previous posted, is that it only tunes in 0.2 steps (odd frequencies). So in teory I can only tune 50% of the available radio statios... With import duties and shippment becomes a very expensive unit for european users and itīs even worse because it cannot tune all frequencies. Even though, reception wise is for the moment the best solution for me.
I'm from Singapore also facing the same problem.
I using CF2 I direct key in the frequency to what I want.
Example the radio station is 95.0 , the tuner show 94.9.
Anyone have any solution how to solve this problem.
Yes, Iīve tried a direct tune with the bundled software and with the .NET project that is available in the mp3car forum, both didnīt work. Iīve tried also with centrafuse. If I try for example 98.2, it corrects to 98.3 or simply doesnīt leave the currently tuned frequency. I havenīt tried with roadrunner, but I supose it will have the same behaviour.
Its a pity because the tunner hardware chip is capable of tunning all frequencies. The firmware must be locked to only odd frequencies to be FCC (US) aproved, I think.
It would be great if the manufacter released some kind of update to unlock the tuner.
So there could be in close future, another version for us outside of USA?
A version that alows tuning in even freq?
Even with option of DAB?
I also think there should be a warning on the Mp3car shop site for Boomzbox, that this is a problem for those who live outside of USA.
