  • parallel series help?

i am trying to wire my 4 ohm speakers into a 2 channel amp in parallel series, the speakers run at 100w rms and my amp runs at 100w at 2 ohm, when i am wiring the amps, there are connections for each channel so it goes like this + - + -, when i am wiring do i just use 1(+ -) connection or do i connect the + into one and the - into the other

    thanks

you can't run your 4 Ohm speakers @ 2 Ohm, unless you use 2 speakers per channel, which will request a 200watt load. And since your amp is only 100watts @ 2Ohm, you're underpowering your speakers.

    speakers in series

    speakers in parallel

Just adding more to what was already said. The problem with underpowering subs could cause a blown sub from distortion. What kind of amp and subs are you running. This information will help us guide you in a direction.

hmmm... is there any other way to run the speakers with the amp, the amp is

        50 x 2 at 4 ohm
        100 x 2 at 2 ohm
        200 x 1 4 ohm bridged

the speakers are 100w rms and 350 w max imp: 4 ohm

I think the OP meant just regular speakers like compo's or coaxials.... But other than that.... Yeah, what speakers and amp are you planning to use.

edit: yeah, you can use the amp if you buy 50watt, 4Ohm speakers, or 100watt, 2 Ohm speakers, or buy a second amp just like it and use 1 amp per speaker and bridge the 2 channels. BUT you're gonna have a hard time setting up both amps equal.

As long as you stay away from fleamarket brands, cause they will never get their rated output! And one other thing: It's better to overpower a little bit (say an amp with 110watt or so per channel) than to underpower. It will give you more headroom and give just a little more punch to your sound.

I don't know what your budget is, but this is a nice one:

Don't know what it costs in the US though. But in europe you're paying €375 for it ($500)

And you wanted to stay away from fleamarket brands? I'm sorry to burst your bubble mate.....

What else do you have to power, other than the 2 speakers upfront?

What kind of speakers do you have?

If it are really decens ones you could even put 200watts on it, as long it's a clean signal you're sending to them. And as far as ratings go: some amps are a little underrated, others are a little overrated, and some are WAY under- or overrated. So it really is up to you to seperate them, and for that, you need to know your hobby.....

But I'm willing to help, if you give me just a little more info on what you're looking for exactly....

weird setup really. Normally it should be the other way around. speakers with the smalles rating in the rear deck and speakers with the biggest rating upfront..... I wouldn't overpower those too much, so that means you're gonna need 2 different amps.....

You said you already had 2x50watt amp @ 4Ohm, so I'd use that for those 50watt speakers, and buy a new amp for the 6x9's
