  • Need honest opinions on audio setup

Hey all. I am hopefully selling my truck soon, and I am selling it with the entire stereo so that I can start over with something even better. Here is what I have in mind:
Eclipse AVN6610BT - 2DIN navigation, dual dvd drives, with bluetooth, ipod, sirius, back up camera, etc.
Eclipse SC6900 6x9 components in front
eclipse SC6500 6.5" components in rear
    MTX TE1004 4ch 125w x 4 at 4ohms
    MTX TE1501D Mono 1500w x 1 at 1ohm
3 Kicker 10" L5 (all 4ohm DVC for a total of 2.333 ohms) in custom built under seat box for a 2000-2002 ram 2500 Cummings Diesel.

I cannot disclose how, but I can get everything listed above for about $2k. I would just like to get personal opinions on the above equipment. I am a big fan of clean sound... not necessarily extremely loud.
    Thanks

    Kenny

Also, does anyone have a good write-up on installing headrest monitors into a 1 piece seat (no removable headrest). I may also pick up a pair of eclipse 7" monitors for the headrests as well

    Hi Kenny,

As there are plenty of skilled people in this forum, you probably won't get much feedback regarding the equipment you have listed since this site is dedicated to installing PC's in the car. YOu could look through the fabrication subforum but you might have better luck at dedicated car audio forums.

    Here is a short list
    System always under construction

i'd nix the 6x9 components and go with a more traditonal 6.5" component set..or better yet go active for up front and get some raw drivers.

as far as the discount...isn't it because you work at CC and can get it at near cost?

yea, pretty much... but its not through the store. Some companies offer accomodations where we get stuff at a very reduced cost. I am going with the 6x9's because the front of the dodge rams are 6x9, so fitment is easy

why would you have better sq with a 6.5 over a 6x9??? From what I have seen, 6x9's offer a much better range of sound...

                in short:
there is more cone area in a 6x9 but at the cost of cone rigidity. 6.5" cone is more solid then an oval cone which will make a better sounding speaker. take a look at any high end speaker (dynaudio, focal, rainbow, etc...) and see how many options they have in 6x9? if there are any they are usually in the lower end versions of there stuff. now go look at any home audio speaker. find me any decent brand with a 6x9 in it.
