  • Line Noise Reduction: Suggestion

I'm sure a lot of people are having some trouble with picking up line noise in the cable running from their computer to their head unit. I think I've got a good way to eliminate this problem.

About a year ago, I picked up something from Fry's called a Xitel HiFi Link. It's just a little unit with USB in at one end and a 1/8" out at the other. I initially bought it because the 1/8" jacks on the laptop I was using in the van were crap.

After setting up my new vanputer and started picking up line noise, I remembered I had this thing buried in storage. Now I have it connected right up under my head unit with just a 3" long RCA-to-1/8" dongle, and the USB cable goes the long route to the PC. Bang... No more line noise.

    Hope this helps.

I think it was like $20-30.

That's a little expensive. A lot of noise reduction devices are cheaper.
