  • quick amp/sub question

basically - will this amp by ok with these subs

I'm not putting dolby in or anything, so it doesn't have to be a studio quality pair.. but am I gonna get anything unexpected and bad from this matchup ?

The subs would be over powered by about 125 Watts. It'll work, but you're going to blow your woofers in no time. Get subs that handle 250 Watts RMS, these only handle 175.
Audio Rockford Fosgate: 900 Watt 4-channel amp, 501bd Mono amp
Computer AMD 2400+ XP, 1 GB DDR RAM, Orbit Micro 250W DC-DC PSU

    Head units are for cheaters!

well the thing is I just found a good deal on this amp that ends today. Even if it's not ideal, would this work if I just keep the gain low ?

I don't agree with the statement that the subs will be overpowered... yes, the rated power of the amp is higher than what the sub says, but in all reality, the WORSE thing for speakers is to be UNDERPOWERED... being underpowered causes distortion from lack of ability of the amp to CONTROL the sub... you are ALWAYS better to have TOO much power than to have NOT enough. You should adjust your gains properly so that you don't overdrive your subs but still have enough power to control them. This IS a proven fact. Good luck!
