  • Subaru WRX amp installs

    Hi,

Has anybody installed an amp in the trunk of a subaru impreza WRX?

I am about to do this and any tips/hints on how to pull the cables along the sides of the car to the back. I would like the power-cables on one side and the signal cable on the other to minimize noice...

Is there an easy way to pull the cables along the sides without dismounting the complete interiour?

shoot, its been awhile since I've done a WRX, but if I recall, there is a nice fat fat grommet above the clutch high in the underdash. This will fit even 0/1 sized cable nicely.

to prevent having to take apart the car, you can just remove the door sills, and any panel directly on the carpet. (I think the lower B-pillar will ahve to come out.) You will be able to lay the cable somewhere under the sill or in that area with ease.

doesnt your car have a series of wire travelling from front ot back there? in a series of clips? if that is the case, you can just clip your power wire inside those clips, and the carpet will fold back with no bump or bulge.

then simply repeat on the other side for your signal.

oh, lets see... I think that means we peeled back the carpet around the edges of the footwells and around the doorsills. we removed the sills for sure, and I think just hte bottom of the rear seat. we left in the rear seatbacks, the front seats, the console, the rear interior quarter panels. I wish I could remember if we wedged the cable sunder the B-pillar, or if we had to remove that too. But I think you may be able to wedge.

let me know whats under there, I want to know if there are plastic clips holding the stock wiring in place, or if I was thinking about a late model mustang

I did my 02 WRX, it's easy man. Run the wires fromt he trunk through there and under the rear seat. Then just push the wires under the door sills, they lift up enough to get them under no problem. I had mine done in 15 minutes. The hardest part is getting the amp power to the battery from the grommet in the firewall.

Also, had trouble finding a good ground in the trunk. :-/

Any advice about not having the sub box slide? Because its just that carpet resting the backerboard under there, and my box slides and pulls on it.
