I personally beleive the less equalization the better. That said, I even defeat all eqs within my head unit. I use my car-computer for mp3s when I'm just listening to music for amusment. I turn to my 9833 Alpine HU for sound quality and I rely on having good enough amps and such that I dont' EQ to correct anything. If you feel your sound is suffering, try playing around with winamps EQ settings to see what you can do compensation wise - if you feel it is helping but too limited. Look for some good quality 30 band EQ software. It may also help to know some more info, like what the rest of your system is
Its not the cards you're dealt, its how you play the hand!

and software EQ's are really limied by the sound card output anyway.

i use Dee2. u can hear a bit of distortion, but it greatly inmproves the listening experience.

I have a car based EQ, Alpine ERA-g320 between the computer and my amps...does the trick..minimal processor time.

I agree with you but equalization is an absolute must in car audio. Unfortunately the enviroment in the car requires equalization...nothing can be done about it, it is the nature of the beast. To many reflective surfaces and unequal path lengths. It would be great if we could get away with no eq and have awesome sound but if a person wants the most out the system they need a proper eq.

I am interested in a good 30 band eq software also.
