    Hello everyone,

I need opinions or a person who knows audio very very good. Alright I am looking to hook up my car with a good car stereo system. I have the stock Infinity system in there now. The 2 different types are:

Infinity Kappa Perfects 6.1 Component system 6.5"
Not sure if they make 6X9 Kappa Perfects. =/
Infinity Kappa Perfect Subwoofer (Not sure on size any opionons? I listen to Rap and Rock pretty equal on listening to both) Also they come in Dual or single voice coil. What's better?

    OR

    Alpine Type R 6.5"
    Alpine Type R 6X9
Alpine Type (R or X) Subwoofer

    Thanks for your input.

i am a fan of infinity although there is nothing wrong with mixing and matching. There is no difference performancewise between dual or single however it reallt depends on your amp. If your amp does 600 at 2ohms and 400 4ohms then you want the dual 4ohm so that you get the most power. If you want to maximize the usage of your amp and sub which may not always be the best idea. Do some more research and find a couple of amps you are interested in and then decide. Some amps arent 1ohm stable and if you are going to run two subs that might be a problem for dual 4ohm.

Go to a car stereo place and have a listen. Bring some CD's of the type of music you like.

not really. DVC makes the sub twice the power SVC does.

Some good advice here...Zip is on the money.

The difference between DVC and SVC is install options. A DVC woofer gives you more options on impedance configurations. With these options it is often easier to achive max performance from your amp. A DVC sub with two 4 ohm coils can either be a 2 ohm driver or a 8 ohm driver. Then couple that with another DVC driver and it could be 4 ohm, 1 ohm, or 8 ohm. A 4 ohm SVC sub will only give you 4 ohm and a pair will give you either 2 ohm or 8 ohm. So you see there are alot more options with DVC subs. On another note I have never heard a difference between a SVC and a DVC of the same brand.

No one around my area sells the infinity so I can really listen to them. I have heard Alpine.

I personally like JL's the best, although they can be a bit pricey

jls are good but they are way too overhyped. There is other stuff out there that is better and around the same price. Jl is a brand that will impress anyone just because of the name so if you dont care about that go with other brands.

for subs, re is awesome, although they took too much power and volume for my usage...

and jl is way too overpriced if your looking at speakers or amps, but i didnt mention that since the point of this thread is a sub right?

The post is about the interior speakers mostly. I know what I like for a sub I am most likely going with Alpine Type X or R but if someone thinks the Infinity is better than I would like to hear an opinion.

                            No love for Helix?

Now onto the question on hand... what speakers have you listened to that you like for a comparison? metal or soft dome/silk tweeter? What amps are you looking at using? Bear in mind that the type X sub is fairly inefficient, have yet to play with the new Type R but it looks promising. Don't worry to much about what "name" you are purchasing...go sit at a soundboard with some favorite tunes... close your eyes and have someone switch the speakers for you. This will give you a better idea of what you like without having any bias. Bear in mind that you won't get the same sound in car as you do in a large cavernous room with either speakers/subs but you'll at least get the "rough" sound.

I'm an /////Alpine guy.. I'd go with Alpine. No one sells infiniti where I live, you have to order them through the net. Some cars have stock infinit's that sound aswsome.
