  • static on speakers just started today

I have a blitzsafe adapter hooked into the factory headunit and a 175watt invertor running my laptop to keep it nice and charged. Today I got in the car and now there is terrible static on all the speakers! I dont know what could have happened. I pulled the radio and the dash out and looked at everything and nothing was loose or broken or whatnot. I even bought a brandnew invertor and still static. Please help it is driving me crazy.

One thing to note is I can have the invertor on and the laptop on running through the blitzsafe just fine, it is when I plug the laptop into the invertor that I get noise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I am running the invertor off the cigarette lighter.

PS: I also noticed something strange that when I goto turn the car off it takes about 5 seconds for the radio to shut off now. I dont remember it doing that before

2001 acura tl with stock everything for the sound system. I also tried hooking the invertor straight into the battery and still the static over the speakers. Now that does not make any sense, well err does any of this heh.

I tried it with another laptop and same issue. It is only when the laptop is plugged into the inverter power that it happens.

"Stock everything for the sound system".. so you didn't have to buy any additional amps to drive any of the speakers. And it only happens when the laptop is connected to the inverter. On battery power you don't have the problem.

Did you try grounding the inverter's case (not just the ground wire) as well?

If the interter's case is metal, run a wire from it to a ground point.

You may have to scrape off some paint on the inverter case to get a clean contact with the metal, and also make sure that you are getting the same clean contact where you are grounding it to the car.

Just a quick note. I hooked up my tape to aux adapter to the headunit and no static so I am almost 100% sure it was the blitzsafe
