  • What do i need to hook Radio Antena to Sony HU?

My stock cable for the Antenna doesn't fit into the connector on the back on my Sony HU. The stock cable has like a 1/8" headphone type head but right after the head there is this big metal "barrel" piece that keeps the head from going all the way in the hole on the HU Seriously though what do i need? Is there like a 1/8" jack extension i can get? Like female on one end and male on the other with a smaller body so it'll go in the hole? Hopefully i don't need pics to explain this but let me know if it would help to have pics. thanks

you drive a 2006 so I have NO idea if scosche or metra or whoever makes the converters has em out yet, but check out your local shops.

FYI, GM cars have a different plug than that sony. so do VW's, and I think nissans too. or is that the other way around? anyways, the point is that companies make antenna converters thatll work for these folks. and invariably they must for you too.

so call a few shops and tell them you need an antenna adapter for a 2006 xB, and do they have one in stock.

oh ok, i wasn't sure what was made and if it was that specific or not. A guy in the club i'm in said he got one from a local shop. His was an 04' but i bet they have the same connector. I will look into it though, thanks for the information!

Are you sure there wasnt a second antenna plug thats 1/4" thick rather than the 1/8" one you're looking at? On some Toyotas there are 2 different plugs for antenna and the larger of the two is used in aftermarket applications.
I havent heard of any need for an antenna adapter for toyota/scions. I may be wrong on the newer ones.
If you can get a pic of the wires your looking at or better yet the back of the stock radio

There wasn't another plug in there that i know of. My club's president said that i do need an adapter and i'm going to go to a shop on Friday to pick it up. I'll see how it works out. Getting my touchscreen in tommorow so it's gonna be fun ^_^.
