  • Headunit Recommendation

I'm planning to do a carputer setup and I would like to get a headunit with an aux input on it that either has red/amber lighting or can change to red/amber lighting, it also needs to have mp3....

looking for either flashy and cool looking or stealthy like the sony explode CDX-M800

the wattage is not important because i will be running separate amps for my speakers and sub

    obviously must be single din

      A) why does it have to be flashy looking if you're planning on running a carputer?
      B) Why does it need to play MP3s if you're planning on running a CarPuter?
      C) Why does it need to have red/amber lighting?
      D) Why don't you just remove the radio all together

Possibly for radio-function.... HQCT is cheaper though.... But hey, if he wants a radio, thats his choice.

might not be flashy enough for you, I believe it has aux in, though cant remember, and you can change the illumination to amber

that still doesn't explain why you nééd a HU.... a car-pc could verry well run without it....

I agree if a friend brings me his cd and says I want to hear this, I take an extra couple of min. to rip the cd to my hard drive. This way we all win your friend gets to listen to his music, and your mp3 collection keeps growing

you don't even need to rip it (but could if you wanted to).... just chuck it in the cd-rom drive and there ya go.... and if you want to listen to the radio, a module is cheaper than a HU....

no need for a HU in a car with a CarPC unless you just want to have it.

                            I've been without a HU for 3+ years now...not a single complaint...
and MRniceGuy14....if you're trying to sell something....post it in the classefieds forum...

thanks guys, i wanted a HU because my carputer will be located in my trunk, it's basically just for a little more bling in my intereior and convienence, and because i can get a sick deal on headunits...

i decided to go with the alpine 9857, thanks a lot for your help guys!!!
