  • what does magnet weight have to do with anything?

What is the magnet weight change as far as performance? is heavier/lighter better?? I thought heavier meant better but seems like some really high quality subs have such light ones!

    Marketing.

What you want to know is BL (magnet flux strength)

Neodymium magnets are 8 times as strong as carbide magnets. Weight would indicate the neodymium magnet is 8 times as strong as the same weight in carbide.

Higher BL = more control, but less efficiency.

Right. It used to be a larger magnet would indicate a stronger, more powerful motor. The wider, the stronger. The taller, the longer the coil gap and allows for more xmag. But now with the neodymium motors, that's all changed.
