    I'm reading through the options of this stuff now. Thought I'd share the list with the rest of you.

    The first link on that list is apparently supposed to be hardware free OBDII code software. Supposedly plugs right into the serial port and lets the software figure it out.

    Only works with certain kinds of connections though.

      everything, huh? i didn't see www.obd-2.com on there, which is my personal fave. the hardware's very affordable, and the software's pretty good too. i especially like the "virtual dashboard". check out their site and the screen shots. sure, the site itself looks like it's right out of 1992, but it works, and that's all we need IMHO.
