    Anyone running a MegaSquirt system in conjuntion with a factory ECU or to completely replace the factory ECU with one for fuel and ignition control? With that a Lamda/Wideband sensor would be needed as well. Anyone running this setup with their cars and have them integrated into their carPC's?

    What version of MegaSquirt are you using? What Wideband are you using? What functions are you controlling? How well does it integrate into a front-end (Centrafuse)?

    I may be using one for tuning my car N/A, just fuel... and later ignition once I go turbo. I want to integrate it into the dash so I can make changes on the fly and datalog, etc... and I prefer it as its completrely customizable and DIY compared to other EXPENSIVE choices.

    Sorry, Im one of those guys. I use the Accel DFI, and have only messed with Megasquirt enough to get frustrated at how complex it is to do simple things. I would directly compare it to Windows versus Linux IMO.

    But it sounds like your happy, and you probably spent 1/5 of what I did on my system. And it should be MUCH easier to integrate, so let us know what you come up with.

      waiting to see how it turns out. got some buds working on some megasqirt projects ... and looking into running my buds nissan ka24de with it.... the known problems with the distributor .... its just 250 a pop when the seal goes out.

      anyway.... ill be watching this thread.....

        What are you talking about with the distributor? I'm lost. lol

        I'm waiting to go MS due to some bugs roaming in my 240sx, once I get them worked out I can look into MS again but its not running right due to the wiring so I want to correct it with the stock ECU before trying to tune a stand-alone with it.

          i just installed ms version 1 board 2.2. its on my e30 with a na m20b27. frodoplayer as frontend.no wb yet, thats my next mod.kinda was waiting for pwc for ease of use but i might go with itwbo2

            oil seal in the distributor leaks .. .allowing oil to end up on the optical sensors ... so we are looking into replacing the ECU and going distributorless...

              I run msns on my 420a turbo eclipse. I just got it all working the other week. It works nice on my carpc too. I dont understand what you people are talking about when you say it is complicated. The only difference with msns and the aem is the msns uses less wires to get the same result. Now if they mad a ems for my car that was plug and play that would be cool.


              Also when you use msns for fuel it is injection. Your are think of ignition.

                To someone familiar with the system, I am sure it is easy to set up and all, but the one experience I have had with a customers MS, we couldnt even load the file that was sent to him as a base startup tune. He was told that he needed to go in and edit text files and ake several changes to the actual program before it would recognize the tune. It never recognized it properly, it went through as a single cylinder and complained of errors in importing info..etc. With my DFI, you go through a very basic setup screen telling it CID, runner length, valve diameters, target Air fuel, timing tables(Accel DFI's are spark/fuel), etc and it comes up with a startup tune. Then, you turn off the correction by unchecking a box and start tuning the VE table. Our VE tables are 16x16 as well, and if I recall his were only 8x8? I dont see that being very good on drivability. But again, its much much less expensive and the end result should be the same. I stick with my Microsoft VS Linux comment earlier. If you have time to learn it its probably fine.

                Regarding the wiring comment made in the above post...thats the reason our shop does not do plug and play systems. The wiring is 15-20 years old a lot of times, and the integrity isnt what it used to be. For that, its nice to have long flying leads to work with and pin/place as you see fit. I would personally gut the engine harness and lay in just the necessary stuff. Saves a lot of headaches!

                  I have to agree about the wires being old I never thought of it that way. Back to the megasquirt though, it works well with my car pc. I use the innovate xm-1 and lc-1 wideband. I have only one problem with the car pc part and that is I only have one com port. I have xm aswell as the megasquirt and I cant get my usb adaptor to work. Stupid thing. I should break it.
