  • What config files to save when reinstalling Linux

    I run obdgpslogger on my netbook because that is a convenient computer to use in the car. Now I want install a new flavor of Linux on the netbook, but I want to be able to use obdgpslogger after that. I remember going through a lot of setup in several config files, but I don't remember which ones, or where they are.

    Specifically, I remember setting up bluetooth device descriptions, and probably some other things too.

    Chunky, or somebody else, can you tell me which files those are? If you can, perhaps I could script the backup process, which could be an addition to the obdgpslogger suite.

    Well, the stuff that I'm aware of:
    1) /etc/udev/rules.d/{something}
    Should be a single file that you created, probably ftdi.rules or something?
    2) Purge brltty and libbrlapi [although they may be a little less intrusive regarding libftdi now]
    3) There's maybe some gpsd config stuff, but really it's not hard to re-do that one
    4) If you've used it, ~/.obdgpslogger
    - And if you haven't used it and weren't aware of it, check the manpage for "dot-obdgpslogger" (5) :-D

    Assuming you're using ubuntu, packages to reinstall starting from scratch off the top of my head [to enable all features]:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install cmake build-essential libgps17 libgps-dev gpsd libdbus-1-dev zlib1g-dev subversion libfltk1.1-dev fluid make g++ gcc

      Can you also remind me which file has the bluetooth device descriptions?

      EDIT: I found it! /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf
