  • 8.4" touch screen install in Audi A4 2003

    Dear All,

I'm building a CarPC in my Audi A4 2003. I'm purchasing now the necessary stuff, I've read a lot of threads with instalation of 7" LCD in the 2DIN adaptor, but never find anything with installition of 8" LCD.

I've bought the following 2DIN adaptor, I did the measurments so it's 191mm width and 121 mm height

I found on the forum details about Dynamix 816 monitor which is the same as Tview 8" monitor.

So if I take the matrix apart of the monitors frame, it measurments are 190mm width and 120 mm height. So theoretically it should fit the Double DIN adaptor which I have, The only thing I will have to do is to cut about 2 mm of the inside boder of the adaptor.

Pls advise if I can go this way and buy a 8" display, or I will have to go a common way with a 7" touch screen like Lilliput, by cutting of the buttons of the monitor and pluging in the monitor in Double Din adaptor.

The review of 8.4" Tview display is here http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...ighlight=Tview

Will greatly appreciate all comments and recommendations.

i have that same 2din adapter with a 7" xenarc molded in it in my 2003 a4 and it BARELY fits with the buttons and such. i always wondered if you could fit the 8" in there or not so im not sure. the tricky part is the bottom because of the metal brace part that goes across and depending on how far the buttons and such stick out on the back of the screen you cant push it back very far. i dont know if that helps or not but im just letting you know that the 7" barely fits hehe

im still working on that actually. my plans are to not take out the headunit. i just took the cage of it apart and pushed it back into the dash. there is just enough room for the screen to sit in front of it. i have pictures at http://flickr.com/photos/ssmiley/set...7600179036310/ i am just looking for pins to get it hooked up.

I have just purchaed that same Dynamix screen and have a 2007 Audi a4 and am ordering the double din adapter off ebay that comes with the wireharness adapters and radio keys etc. I was wondering if you found the 8 inch to work ok form your pics it looks like it but I am not sure.

This is almost a year old thread... hope the people here are still around. I am doing the same install into 2007 A4 and also got a similar enclosure. I would love to put a 8" widescreen monitor in there and according to the measurements above, it is very doable. I am very curious what happened with this install. Any help is appreciated.

              Thanks
