  • to build or buy...

I want to have a 12" sub box in the trunk of my e46 m3. I have the experience to build a fiberglass box, but am wondering if its cost effective to buy one. I plan on buying/building one very similar to the on wickedcas sells:

For those of you who have priced out materials for your own boxes, would materials alone approach $200+? If they do then i might just buy the one on the site.
Any input would really be appreciated.
    thanks

no, don't cost that much, just go to a boating store to get the material, it ended up costing me somthing between 70-100 if i remmember correctly, but without a doubt less then 200

that definitely doesn't look like it would cost all that much to fabricate... a gallon of fiberglass resin runs for... what, about $33 from Home Depot? then the carpeting and the MDF to build the rings... definitely shouldn't run you over $100

you'd prob. need something like 1.5 gallons of resin, and at least 3-4 feet of fiberglass matt... east that what I used

I order my fiberglass off of ebay, and get more than enough for 15 bucks, i believe it's 50 sq ft, and then you'll be able to do some other little projects with it as well, if you don't waste the extra resin or whatnot during each layer you shouldn't need anymore than a gallon, but if you happen to waste some then you'll have to buy the extra gallon

when I build boxes for people with WRX's it costs about 50-80 in supplies depending on what i'm building and what supplies i have at home already
