I'm not too big on fabricating, but I know the first thing people are going to ask you for is pictures of the dash. So save them some time and post a few.

Hey matey, welcome to the forums from another Perth carPC lover

From what I can see of those pics, it looks like the surround around the stereo can be removed.

What I would do, is take that piece off, and get someone who does fibreglass work to mould in a screen surround into that part, and they could also form a tilt to make the screen on the right angle to face you.

Have a look through some of Nexson's threads in the fabrication area, that is basically what you are going to have to do.

The other option is building a screen into the area where the climate controls are, but that becomes a LOT more complex, as you then have to move those controls down to where the stereo is, and that then becomes two fabrication jobs, one for the screen area, and one for the stereo area.

          Where in perth are you?

If you get rid of the ash tray and cigarette lighter then with a little cutting and fiberglass work it should fit pretty well.

+1 on extending in the ashtray area.

Also, other reason would be it looks like you have cables for the vent and fan blower. I don't think I'd want to tackle that problem

What is the piece above the head unit? Is that a cup holder?

                    Sure looks like one.
I just imagined that deleting the ashtray would mean utilizing the cup holders.

More interesting is ... what is hanging out of the ashtray

That's odd. It definitely looks like that piece slides out.

Now I'm confused. If it slides out, what is it?
