  • Sub enclosure volume Tip!!!

heres a little tip for finding the volume of an odd shaped enclosure or any one for that matter:

get some packing peanuts and dump them in the enclosure until its full

dump those peanuts into an empty box

    measure your cubic feet

this is a good indication to see if you are close to what you thought you had sometimes you'd be real surprised!

That's a good tip. Another way is:
    1. Fill it with water.
    2. Begin adding Nestea Instant Ice Tea mix. Be sure to keep track of how much you add!
    3. Each time you add some, stir it together and taste.
    4. Continue until it tastes correct.
Once this happens, compare your numbers (of how much tea you added) against the flavor chart on the back of the Nestea container to figure out how much water is needed for that amount of mix. You will now have the volume of your enclosure.
    5. Drink the tea.

Only if you put the subwoofer in and play some bass, so that the woofer moving back and forth will stir it properly.

im not sure if you goofballs are kidding or not

this is a legitimate way to find volume of a odd shaped box

                  ok anyway...

The Nestea and coco methods? Yeah, I know. People've been using them for years.

The packing peanuts sure. Water, sure... never heard of anyone using tea or coco mix to figure out how much water though.

If you fill with it liquid you could just measure the difference in weight then do some simple math, figure out how much weight of liquid (water most likely) is in it, then do more math to convert it to volume.

You could also remove the water out of the enclosure and then measure it in measuring cups or something.

Or you could set up the shape as a function and use Calculus (disk method, integration) to find the volume.

I tried the packing peanuts way, but no matter how much I added, the peanuts still didn't taste right. What am I doing wrong?

Hey now, math major here. If I need to calculate any volumes, it's calculus all the way. Though, that would mean a lot of precise measurements and then fitting splines to them... **** that.

Water? You want your enclosure soaking wet? Be my guest.

Nah... Rice Krispies or coco is the easiest method. That's the way to go.
