  • Camaro pics/ideas

Hey, been awhile since I posted (been busy). I've gotten back onto my car PC project though and was wanting some ideas. I drive an '02 camaro and was planning on putting a Xenarc 700TSV where my Alpine currently resides. I would have to cut out the middle bar that seperates the radio from the hvac controls but that I plan on making it all look as professional as possible so I've already picked up an extra cover to use Anyway my question is this: I'm wanting to keep my alpine hu and run my carpc through that. Where should I put it? I would like to be able to move it down where the hvac controls are and use my carpc to control them (maybe put them in the glove box or center console incase my PC dies). How possible is this? Is it easy to move the controls in a camaro?

I'm also going to be running Gentoo linux on an Epia if that makes any difference.

I was hoping some of you would have pics
(or sites with pics) of good PC installs in camaros (need inspiration and motivation! heh).

    Thanks,
    Hex.

P.S. I have been searching so the replies are not needed. What I've found so far isn't what Iwas looking for or I have just overlooked (still searching google occasionally).

the cables are not be long enough to reach into the center console, if you plan to put it under the armrest. it might reach the glovebox though. you might be able to extend the cables somehow. anyway let me know if you try it, i want to do the same thing.

just get a MII12000, then put the screen in the din where your hu goes, relocate the hu and MII12000 below the din(where the cig lite. is)

you are better off IMHO leaving the hvac where they are, removing the sgs and fog light switches, and cutting the bar above the radio...much easier to move some switches than ur hvac cluster...also, you wont be able to control your hvac controls without some heavy duty engineering... one switch is digital, one is cable, other is vacuum (if its like mine) so you would need to figure that one out...I put my radio in the glovebox; just cut out enough space to make clearance, will make a box out of abs to go around it soon to make it pretty...thought about moving the hvac to the glovebox or console, but abandoned it when I looked at the connections and how much trouble it would be to extend them vs. extending the wires of the stereo harness....

Thanks for the link. That's basically the layout I want. Except I'm trying to keep stuff out of the glove box (just seems tacky to have to open the glove box for AC). Although I may have to do it that way.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to put a single seat in the back facing sideways (like back seats in a s-10) and my car mod will be all planned out and on to fabrication!

I believe my car is identical to yours. Right now I'm sanding my new fiberglassed dash to be put in and I've changed the look a bit so the pics are out-dated.

Hey man, do you have any updated pics of your fiberglass dash?

Also, how hard is it to relocate A/C controls? I suppose I can do a
If anyone wants to give me a hint on if it is a huge headache or not - I'd appreciate it.

                        Thanks guys

                            Center console molding

Have you ever thought about joining the whole area where the AC/radio/vents reside with the center console...

I'd love to make a fiberglass center console that swoops down from the AC vents on top all the way to the cupholders for the backseats.
