  • Double din surround for Xenarc/Gain screen

I have seen a double din surround for Xenarc/Gain screen somewhere (on here perchance?) but for the life of me can't find it again. Does anyone know what I mean?

I've seen you creation already, and very good it is! 10 out of 10.

But I saw something manufactured specific for the task, would be for a VW Golf MK IV. Where did I see it, I thought I saved it as a favorite nut no go.

I don't think so.. A Xenarc with the houseing is big (height) enough to fit if a double DIN....With the shroud it won't fit at all!!

Dude, the xenarc is SO CLOSE to fitting in a double din size.
I have taken a Double DIN facia for my car, and have managed to use the above mentioned shroud to glue it to the facia. I am now in the progress of tidying up the glue-work and making it look stock.
From my measurements and knowledge, i came up with this:

                xenarc dimensions:
                195mm wide X 122mm height x 35mm thick/deep
                (7.75inches wide x 4.75inches height x 1.33inches deep/thick)

                Single DIN = 60mm height x 190mm wide x 170mm deep
                Double DIN = 120mm heightx 190mm wide x 170mm deep

So, the height is only around 2mm too big, and the width is only 5mm too big.
Correct me if i am wrong, but with a little filing here and there you can get it in?
I will keep peeps up to date on here with the install as it progresses!

Nice one Pabs, those dimensions refine the thought processes going on!

Yesterday I thought about getting two of the OEM Golf cubby holes and combining them to make a double din cubby hole into which the screen is fixed. The cubby holes will click into place within the fascia so easily removable.
