  • Finished a BMW... I have to share

I put together this car as my last one at my old job a couple of weeks ago, i'm really happy with the way it turned out. I'd just thought I'd share with you. Any thoughts...?
No carputer, but it does have the new alpine IVA-D300 touchscreen...really nice piece.

Myself and another installer did that job, took about 2 weeks.
But since i'm in canada, thats a long way to go for an install(4000miles?), Sorry man.
The charge for the install was about 8 grand(about $6500 u.s.).
            Thanks for the compliments

kickercivic.....that kind of work takes alot of time. Especially at the end when it comes time to paint it. There is alot of sanding involved. If you ever want to see that kind of stuff being built in person let me know. Majority of what I do is that kind of install. I have two cars here getting alot of fiberglass work.

                      audioguy....looks really good.

Wow, that's really impresive! I think it's worth the money, there is indeed a lot of work involved in fibreglassing, really time consuming. Think just about the prepping involved, not to mention the actual work, and ofcourse sanding an paiting, all really hard to do to make such a perfect finish. Congratulations!

                          Thanks guys,
Ya, alot of work is right. I'm not good enough at that kind of stuff to make money at it(thats prob why i got out of it). I lost my shirt on this one, even though we billed like 120 hours for it, i had more time in it then that. And when you work commission like i do, you have to make your money billing out lots of hours in a day. Alot of the reason for not making money for us doing it is that i always do more work then i first quoted on. Its good for the customer, but bad for my paycheck. But i figure if a guy is going to spend like 12 grand on gear and 8 grand on the install(like this guy did), it should look and sound good. But it sure can be frustrating when you do a system like this one though and there is rattle or something that the customer is not happy about, sometimes the seems like your just not appreciated. Oh well.
Oh ya, we didn't paint the panels, a bodyshop guy did it for us, and did a great job for only $75 plus paint.
