  • Vectra C Dash Part2

    Hi Everyone,

been busy getting everything in the car. Almost there now

test fitting the screen into the dash.
the hole in the top right of the housing is for the IR for the screen
I'm still not 100% happy with the housing still needs some work.

Computer in housing (need to get some carpet the same colour)

    Computer opened up

    comments welcome.

Most trunks are ventilated, some even allow the ac to enter in the trunk, like the VW Bora/Jetta for example.

There is a vent right next the computer, behind the second metal skin, which vents to the outside, and has rubber flaps that seal when there is no air movement
there is also a 6 inch fan on the right hand side of the housing.
I will take another picture tomorrow showing it.

as for the screen being low on the left hand side, this was a rough test fit and the screen needs a bracket making to hold the screen housing up for a better fit.
here is another picture of it.

That looks absolutly fantastic! Great job man! One more pic please, of the whole dash! You're the first one to put a screen in a Vectra C like that! Did you use the front from the stock HU, or did you make another one?

                            Hi Richpu,

Sorry for digging up such an old thread! I have just purchased a Vectra C and am interested in installing a car computer. Congrats on yours - it's fantastic! I was just wondering if you could post some more details on the wiring side of things. The putting together of the computer and the screen is no problem - it's the connecting it to get power from the car and wiring the computer from the boot to the dash. Anything you could post would be really helpful. Thanks!

                            Jer

                              Hi,

The main power for the PC was taken from the main fuse box on the nearside of the boot using an M1-ATX. as for the cabling for the screen etc, this was run down the offside of the car, under the trim with the carpet, there are cable run boxes under the carpet that these were fed through.

the main cables were the VGA and USB cables which were both 5 metre
the USB was 1 cable to a 4 port hub, this runs the touchscreen, Keyboard, Bluetooth.

let me know if you need more detail

                              Regards,
