  • My 2002 CR-V computer install/fabrication thread

UPDATE. Almost finished fabricating my computer case. Check this out...

There is a little plastic drawer beneath the passenger's seat on my Honda CR-V. Yes, you know where this is going... the thing measures 10.5"x10.5". Coincidence? A micro-ATX board measures 10"x10"! So there you have it folks, I built the computer into that thing. It slides in/out like a drawer (that's what it is, anyways!).

The 2.5" Laptop HD will be mounted against the plexi lid, on the underside. I plan on using a fanless OPUS-150 also attached to the plexi lid, on the underside. Everything will be inside the 'box'.

Some pics have the plexiglass lid on, some have it off...

    PICS!

Its always nice when everything fits like it was made to be that way. I just put a slim DVD in a Jetta cupholder-delete bezel and it worked out just as well.

        Just a quick question.

Wont the fans just blow air against the seat with minimal air flow?

Thought you might want to consider before you risk overheating.

The fan at the top pulls air OUT of the box. Yes, it would be facing the bottom of the seat, but I think its not as risky (If that was an intake, I think it would be risky)

I plan on puttin the intake next to the connectors, where there is plenty 'air'

looking good, if the cpu is getting hot in there you could always drill out some vent holes and have the fans push the air out that way.

              Good luck!

                Thanks Alti.

I already ran a few test, and the temperature seems will not bee a problem.

I have some holes on the back of the case that sit next to the AC exhaust beneath passenger seat. There is a fan in the case that forces air out of it (therefore feeding air through the rear holes).

My only worry is that I am using a fanless Opus, but like I said, it seems to vent very very well.
