  • New dash moulding

    Hi,

Tore it all out and I'm starting again!

Seeing as the screen comes up over the dash a little, how would you best advise I get it to mould in nicely? Plastic shroud?
Please modify the pic with whatever suggestions you have

    L

    PS

I've already cut the middle of the dash out

I'm no interior expert, but I can offer some advice.

I use a very light weight body filler on some interior stuff. (I'm in a auto body class and have these things at my disposal). I'll post the name tomrrow, cant remember it. Its extremly easy to work with and is not near as thick a bondo, but thick enough to take a shape, and its much eaiser to sand.

words of advice, bondo (its really just a generic body filler) is only as strong as it surroundings. I'd build the enclousre out of something easy to work with. Personally, I like MDF, cheap and easy. I'll type more tomorrow

              Fair enough.

Hey there is a great post on this epoxy that you can thicken into almost a clay, so it is workable and moldable. I think the topic was something like fiberglass alternative or something like that. I am using that stuff on my motorcycle fairing and my rodeo dash this week.

                Hi,

Just wondering - I've now adhered that frame to the old front bezel, so that the screen will be recessed about 1" for anti-glare. But behind the front, where the glass would go in a picture frame, there's a gap in a little. Would it be best to fill this with filler (bondo-style) or use expanding foam, cut it, and then add a tad bondo?

I would just fill it with the bondo. Both steps in one and the bondo is alot stronger than the foam.

                    cool.
I have a liter of it so...should be good. the paint stripper made a ****e of the moulding, so I ditched it, and build taht shroud thing..then I thought, "hang on" and broke out the planer and all went a little better.

Looks good. I also like the color scheme.

Lol! Enough of the multiple colours! Or maybe it could be used as mp3car.com's Gay Pride banner?

Sanding and filling going on. A good day should get the surround made, then it's the fabrication into the dashschlong
