I was wondering if you could put the computer and monitor in the double din slot in a 99-00 honda civic?

Hah sweet... I didnt know there was other 99-00 civic dashes done out there. I would be confidant in saying mine looks the best :-D

More importantly mine had the least impact on the rest of the dash. I did remove the 3 ac control buttons but I did not touch the vents, the LCD is flush mounted with no buttons or other clutter, and it still allows the metal brackets to screw into the back. Because of that you could make something to fit a mini itx computer into but I was worried about heat from behind the dash with everything together and fan noise from trying to cool the hot parts.

I am mounting my computer in an Ampe case on the rear seats. Soon as I dynamat the whole car I can start putting the computer stuff in.

I am doing my second install in a honda civic 2000 SI (fiance's car). I am going to try to not modify the dash bezel, and just fabricate a front bezel that will fit inside the double din (or is it 1.5 din) slot so if we ever sell the car we can put back in the old stereo.

I am interested though in the placement of your headunit. Is there an actual stereo mounting kit for the lower area (down by the cut holders) or is it just set there?

it is bigger than a din so the compartement has to be swapped out with a 98 model (the cup holder compartement that is ) and then u will have a din area down there

yeah... I have seen cd players added on from honda installed down there but I think the plastic needs to be replaced. I tried to stick my radio down there while I was playing with the dash but it would not fit because of the black plastic not because of the size of the hole.

I hear you can buy the dash pretty cheap as a replacement part... If I ever sell my car I and rip the pc out of it I will just buy a new dash piece or by then find one at a junk yard.
