  • should i fiberglass this?

I am going to start my carpc and i was adding the monitor to the radio bezel. and i used some bondo to fill in the gaps. my question is should i fiberglass over it or should i just use another couple of layers of bondo?

you should've fiberglassed first, then smoothed it out with the bondo.... bondo is the finisher, not the starter..

have you glued this together - or is it held together ONLY by bondo?

if it is the latter, strip it all back, eopxy/glue it together (making sure to drill small holes in both plastics being glued, or at least rough up the surfaces), THEN fill the voids either side with FG, sand down, then smooth out and imperfections with bondo.

if you HAVE glued it together, put a bit of FG on the back for support anyways :P

yea i glued it together prior to hold the trim in place then i bondo'd over the top. i just added another layer of bondo for a lil more strength. im not sure bout the fiberglass im gonna wait to put it back together and see how strong it is. o0o yea another question can i paint if i sand down the bondo good enuff or should i apply primer then paint?

what kind of glue did you use?

its always good to use fiberglass the bondo will eventuallty crack over time since its not flexible.

            Always use a primer...

              my thoughts exactly webdog.

pure bondo will crack - and its a common misconception that the more you add - the stronger it is. in fact, the more you add, the more likely it is to crack.

and indeed - ALWAYS use a primer.

No way do you call bog or filler (bondo) I have never heard the word bondo before and I have worked in a body shop lol
                  *sorry for posting this here*

For the op yer fiberglass would have been good first you could allways sand it off the bondo/bog that is and start again or if you can make it like a brick so there is know flex in the frame it shouldnt crack

you have NEVER heard of bondo?!?!?!

bondo is a brand name. it is the makers of what we, here in the uk, call p38.

if you are from the uk then that might be why.... bondo in the uk = nope!

                    ahh well, good luck jakkdariper
