  • Fixing my Bezel????

Hi this is the bezel of my passat b5 a friend of my who had a little of experience help me out to stick the lilliput to my bezel with fiberglass but after every was done, in one side of the bezel some cracks start to come out, I went to home d.
try to find something and I bough some, extra time epoxy: any good result, I sand it again until take all that off and last sunday I went to lowes and find the white things that you can see on one side of the bezel epoxy putty MADIRE GRADE I'm still not sure if that's the right one but I apply it to my bezel yesterday today I'm gonna start to sand it again with some 150 sand paper.

Just to let every one know I just move to usa 1 and 7 month ago, so I got a problem when I try to find something that I need in the store, or I don't know wich store to go etc. I don't have many friends so I don't go out almost at all may be that one of the reason that I still fell like I just got here. if you gonna help me and post a comment with solutions. please specify the exact name of the product and where can I get it, I know that for some of you may be it's to much to ask, but for other like gohybrid is not.

I'm trying to get this done to install the carputer next weekend

Thanks and I apreciate every body's help and comments.

    Okay, try this:

This is SEM's web site. http://www.sem.ws/

Click "Where to buy" on the left side, and then search for SUPPLIERS in New Jersey (where i think you are). Choose the store that is close to you.

To fix cracks: Try to remove as much of the old bondo/epoxy as you can and use one of SEMs plastics repair products. Look on the website (Catalog) for the product so you know what to ask for. I would try this http://www.sem.ws/product.php?product_id=198

I used to live in New Jersey, and there is a Sherwin-Williams store in Princeton on Harrison St. just north of Nassau St. that I used to buy from. They are helpful too.

      picture link is broke.

if you want to attach a plastic to aonther plastic use PERMA POXY from www.kragen.com or any kragen store in your area.

if you want to fill in the cracks use this (also from kragen)

      http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...partnumber=262

      hope this helps.

Kragen also has sand papers primers and may be paint ( I am not sure)

if your bezel is black, may be bumper paint (spray can) will work for you as well.

Thanks guys for your fast answers, I found a SEM close to my town like 10miles away

this is a picture of 20 min sanding.

What do u think I should do after I finish sanding?
Should I buy some spray filler prime apply sand again and then apply SEM PAINT?

i'd say the bottom looks good, but i'd do a little more sanding on the top, the left, and maybe the right until the surface is PERFECT. Then you can use a primer.

One product i might suggest is called "Bulldog Adhesion Promoter". That helps your paints and primers stick MUCH better so you don't have to worry as much about the paint flaking off later.

Becarefull with Bulldog adhensive promoter. One of the member here has problem with that particular product and bondo body filler. Basically, the promoter dissolved body filler and turn it into mud.
            Search the forum for it.

Agreed... that's a weird problem but i think since he's got nothing but epoxy/plastic repair on there he shouldn't have a problem. I think he also mentioned something later in that other thread about having used too much hardener... which has it's own problems. The trick with bulldog is to just barely dust it on. You don't spray it on like a layer of paint. I think it's way too strong for that.

                Thanks GoHybrid

Any local store where I can get the "Bulldog Adhesion Promoter" and filler prime?
                I saw and spray call
epoxy and homed. a red the label and looks like it will do a little bit the function of the filler prime but not sure?

with the filler prime I went to home D. and Lowes and the don't have it. I'm thinking about go to
(autoz. or pepb. "local car stores"). But I'm not sure if they have it.

If there is a wally world in your area, they should have it. Any other autopart place like Pep Girl, Kragen/Advance auto, Autozone also have it.
