  • Hows about this for onscreen keyboard?

I dont have a keyboard connected and need to enter characters, using the on screen keyboard takes ages with a remote. So, I though about those little knobs they have in BMWs for the sta-nav, where you turn the wheel left to go up through the alphabet, and right to go down, then click to type the seleted character. This would save loads of space over the WinME onscreen keyboard, as you only need to display the current letter.

I thought maybe if I get an old serial mouse and hack it apart so I can connct the "wheel" to one of the to axis wheels inside, then just knock up some software and Im there. Sounds pretty simple (except I dont hve a serial port ). Suggestions? Does this sound good or bad?
