  • I have done something VERY stupid

Ok, so i got the dscustoms in dash 5.6" LCD for 225. Immediatly went to ratshack and got a power adapter so i could use it in my house (110v AC-12vdc adapter). I had been using it for about a week on vacation to play gran tourismo 3 (works awesome). THen I went to lincolnl to show my friend the screen and not thinking clearly, wired it up backwards. (I know I know, I am a f*****g retard). Andway after some intresting smells and a bit of smoke, the screen dosent work. My first thought was...theres 225 down the damn tube. I began to check out the baord and noticed that a diode poped (prolly what smoked). So i took it to ratshackand found a suitable replacement (the IN4004 i think). I replaced the diode on the board and it still didnt work. it looks as though the trace leading to the diode may have burned up so I cant get a good connection. Anyone else here been stupid enough to do the same thing? Any ideas on what do do to fix it, or try to fixit? Anyone know who makes the screen? Where to get a replacement baord?? Hopefully I wont be completely out of luck. ****!!!!!

If its just a burnt track why not solder a thin piece of wire from the diode to the other end of the track? I have had to do this with other things I have fried in the past.

That was my second idea. I tried using a piece of wire to connect the good side of the track to the diode ubt no luck, I was also having problems with my powersupply at that time to, so that may be the issue. I just bought a new powersupply and will test it out.
