Kinda what I did. But it wasnt a Mac Mini. Im currently running an old IBM Netvista PIII with 120 GB HD which I paid $70 for. Added a slim DVD drive, a USB 2.0 card and 7.1 sound card. So the PC and additional components basically cost me about $130 including shipping. Add the touch screen, GPS mouse, Radio Shark and a **** load of audio and power wires and in the end I spent about $480. But the most daunting part is the labor. But in the end, when everything powers up and you see all the wows from everyone that comes in your car, its way worth it.

And please dont listen to these pricks on this site that say mobile PC's are th way to go. So far the only problemsive had are software issues with Road Runner that have been fixed.

There's a forum just for StreetDeck.
There are known issues, yes. But as a whole the frontend works.

I suggest reading the forums and determining whether it's something you want to pay for.
You can also download a trial version and play with it to determine if it's worth your investment.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
          How about the Wiki?

Isn't playing MP4 files a codec issue? Or does Streetdeck have its own media player? I'm used to RR, which does whatever you want it to if you're willing to put in the time.

                  hehe
On the serious note, yah it would be better if you had it custom built (this way you know exactly whats in it and how everything works)... If you buy it already built from a Store (other than Mp3Car store) you may not know how everything will work.

I suggest starting with a carputer that has everything complete (HDD, DVD, memory) and is ready to go.

I found this cheap one on eBay: Item # 130126803870
