  • Help me to modify my PC

Hi guys. I have HP s3100y in my truck . I have added pcmcia adaptor for at&t wireless internet. My pc works perfect when truck is not in motion. Road vibration and shocks make problems. PC freezes a lot and hangs. Please suggest me what i need to change or modify to make pc work while rig is in motion.
    Thanks a lot

Secure the PC to the body and/or chassis.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I did it.Still have problems. I think problem is the hard drive. Are there any special anti shock hard drives for Car PC's?

I think it's your still your mounting.

I've got a dell hard mounted in the trunk, no issues.

Now, if you're off roading and hitting the berms hard................

        All bets are off.

Try mounting your drive 90 degrees to what it is now. If its horizontal, make it vertical. Vice versa. If that doest help, try putting something soft/springy under your pc. I know alot of people may object and say that will make it worse, but this is only to test. Its debatable what is the best mounting option, but you never know until you try.

The only time my computer skips when playing mp3s is when I hit a big speedbump or low spot way too fast...so fast the entire vehicle rebounds.

I think the most recent time was about 3 months ago.

I would make sure that all your stuff is securely fastened within the computer case...computers are not happy when things unplug while being used...
