help my LCD was working fine untill I removed the cable to tidy up the case wiring, then all I could get was block characters earlier today and now nothing at all. Is it possible to blow a chip on these units easily? is there a test I can do with a multi meter any suggestions or ideas would be welcomed. I've checked the wiring and it seems to be ok.

    Thanks

More than likely something came unsoldered to two wires touched. I was moving stuff around and has to resolder a wire that I yanked out of place.

right if you dont get any blocks it means either your earth or your +5v aint working. Or of course its a dead board, take the board out and use a make shift 5v sorce on the 5v pin then again make make shift earth, test with them on to see if you get it to turn on.

If not its ****ed, if it turns on, try the pins.

Could be your parallel port but more likely lose wires soldered onto the back of the pcb.

      Info is also on www.winwood.net/~oacar/faq/

Under the output - lcd section

      Thanks

Well I've checked it out with a meter and the power is getting to the LCD,and all the soldering is good, so unless antone has any other ideas looks like i'm ordering another from EIO. Guess thats a lesson for us all BE CAREFULwhen moving things around.
