  • Anyone ever used teh Creative Labs remote?

    This one:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2061644857

Is it worth it? Work well with winamp?

I probably wouldnt buy it from that auction, but is it a good remote? Better than a packard bell? Does anyone know if they work with sound cards from companies other than Creative?

i ordered mine then 3 days later my carputer got stolen...So im using it for my Home mp3 jukebox...

It works pretty good and would be perfect for a carputer....I also got it to work with girder which lets u do more than the software it brought

But overall its great for 8 bucks!

I was reading the other thread about these. Are there any issues with non creative sound cards?

It works with any sound card. I have a Santa Cruz Turtle Beach card and it works perfectly. I don't know why it wouldn't work with any other sound card. As long as you have a free serial port you should be golden.

Has anyone used one of these with a serial to USB adapter?

I have no more serial ports left.

well i am gonna test it out on my half hour drive to work in a few minutes but just from fiddling for a few minets when i installed it in my blazer it seems to work pretty good using the creative software for now till i have more time to mess with girder but it does seem to have slow controls if you try and use it as a mouse maybe that can be changed somehow i dunno

well its 7:00 am and i jsut got home and let u guys know that i used it not only on my way to work but i also pu;lled the system out of my truck plugged it into the radio at work and was able to control winamp wih out any means of display and that was nice cause some of our radio stations suck at night anywyas i did a few tests and the usable range on these seems to be about 30 to 40 feet mind you this is in a well lit warehouse type area with 20 high pressure sodium lights over head also taking the case apart does not increase the range that i noticed it does notseem to have very much in the way of being able to work at a angle to the ir receiver unles your close but i spose in a car thats kinda a moot point anyway i did not have time before i left to configure all the buttons except shut down and the standard winamp play stuff by the way the fact i can use it to shut down the computer is very nice saves me time from hunting for my track ball and clicking and pointing and waiting also means i can use it as a jukebox at work with out anykind of lcd display since i can start winamp shuffle thru music and shut down the puter with out needing to see where i am clicking maybe if i have more time i will tr and configure girder for it although the only plug in i found for girder is for the creative cd rom ir setup not a stand alone ir setup so dunno if thats the one i want or not anyways i like it kinda amsuing that i paid 3.22 for the battery when the whole unit was only 7 bux lol

yes i know my punctuation sux
