  • C7 Mobo Issue

I bought the 'Nicely Equipped Beginner" Car computer package deal from the store (Via C7 2.0Ghz mini-ITX Express Motherboard J7F2WE2G). I powered it up and I was not able to get any video. After a few on/off cycles, I got video, but no keyboard input so I could never go to the BIOS setup screen (press Delete). Then after a few on/off cycles I got no video again. Sometimes I get a motherboard single beep upon startup. Sometimes not. When it does do a single beep, it seems to get video.

I decided that MP3Car sent me a sour motherboard. So I bought a new one. I get the exact same behavior. Sometimes I can see the boot screen. Most often not. Never do I get recognized keyboard input.

I did use the same memory (1GB DDR2 PC2-5300) in both motherboards. I tried both the PSU that cam with the package (M2-ATX 160W DC/DC) and another one I had laying around. No change. The only common denominator that I can think of is the memory. I have no peripherals (disks) attached. I just want to get to the BIOS and use the keyboard to navigate the setup utility (If I can get that far, then I'll bother with disks and operating systems).

I have built a number of computers before. I am not a complete idiot - just a partial one. What am I missing here!

    Thanks for any help!

It was the memory. A new stick and we are back up and running.
