  • Thoughts on Windows ReadyBoost and similar programs!

Was doing some research and found a article on Windows readyboost for Vista. Seemed kind of interesting, but I noticed they didnt have it for XP... So I did hunting and came across this... http://www.eboostr.com. Has anyone come across something like this and used it (ReadyBoost or the eBootr)? It supposedly makes a system run much faster.

I'm gonna guess its snake oil. Love em or hate em, Microsoft did a pretty good job with XP (I won't say the same about Vista). Theres very little you can do w/ memory management, registry settings, etc, and make it faster than what MS already did. I would recommend you give yourself enough memory (1GB, maybe more if you don't mind the hibernate times), don't install worthless programs, don't let unnecessary programs run at startup, and don't let your computer get riddled with spyware. my computer gets junked up over time and a good reformat/reinstall always fixes it, and right after that the machine screams until it starts filling up w/ junk that i end up never using. i didn't let that happen w/ the car computer, and its pretty fast.

I have read that on systems with 512mb of ram there is a noticeable increase in speed, but what caught my attention is the faster startups. My system is overkill and with the 13+ USB devices it takes awhile to boot. Supposedly eBoostr will speed up Windows start up time, which may help. Currently I have a dual core with 2 GB of Ram.... Supposedly this program helps to the PC to hibernate and sleep faster.... I just ordered a 4GB thumbstick and managed to find the program.... So i'll test it out.
