    You know...
There are online vendors that have done all this work for you already.
Look at their systems' specs and make some decisions. Then start buying parts.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

I think it's time to direct you to the FAQs: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/advfaq.php
Many common questions are answered there.
There's also a forum with nothing but informational write-ups: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=106

There are several quality front-ends that give easy access to functionality. All (or nearly all) of them can provide all the functionality you want.

Online vendors sell pre-built systems. You gather the specs from one of those. They have done the work by compiling specs that you can mimic.
Or, you can purvchase a pre-built system from one of those vendors.
