This is still running Windows CE (ak Windows Mobile) and is going to be pretty locked down.
I'm sure it can be hacked to add more functionality.

The processor is kinda slow, though it is dual-core. It should be acceptable for WinCE and the applications that I'm certain are optimized for this setup.
I see there is no accomodation for internet connectivity of any sort, which is a downer.

It's certainly a step in the right direction.
When someone starts making a unit like this that will suppot aircards to have 'net access through a cell network, they will sell like hotcakes.

The CES show floor had a bunch of similar stuff. the fact that customization would be tough is a bit of a downer.

actually it's not slow at all, considering it's pretty much optimized. Startup time is 6 seconds.

It has integrated bluetooth that will work with handsfree profile with any phone. It will also do a2dp streaming and control your mp3 / phone via bluetooth.

                Ipod support and charging.

Thumbdrives and HDD compatible, some 2.5" usb models upto 500 gb will power.

                Reverse Camera.

Another is steering integration - it learns any steering commands, although for some cars i.e. canbus, you need a converter.

You can load up OBD software too- we're working on that too.

Also X-fi chipset is integrated, the audio is pretty good already.

Anyway, we've been selling these like hotcakes with Sygic integrated.

But to the general public, it's pretty slick...

Are you involved in the development of this Runz unit or a similar unit?

If you're seriously looking at internet connectivity through a 3G connection, have you considered OEM hardware similar to that used in many business-class laptops? Might make for a cleaner look without a USB dongle hanging off the unit.

                      Just a thought.

They look great, but the price is still a killer. Oh well. I wish someone would just release a double din touch screen VGA with DVD rom on it. That is all we really need isn't it?
