  • New board from Intel (D945GSEJT)

D945JSEJT is a new board from intel (see http://www.mini-box.com/Intel-D945GS...TX-Motherboard) with Integrated 12V DC-DC converter.

I spoke with Intel about the range of the 12V input and unfortunately this board, D945GSEJT, requires 12V regulated. I tried the board on a variable PSU and the board crashed at 10.5 (on the low side) and went into low power mode at 13.2V.

Just FYI.. In case you want to use it for car applications... (don't, you will damage the board).

Otherwise the board is super-nice, it is fanless, and comsumes only 10watts of power...

Nice motherboard. It comes with two serial ports and two independent video. I'll keep my eye on this.

Similar motherboard (Jetway NF94-270-LF) but with 4 serial ports, and more rear audio connectors (mic and audio line in). Too bad the price is on the high side.

What do people use ethernet ports for in a car system anyway?

LOL to connect all terminals to the main PC. I will have a total of 7 car pcs and all will share the main PC music database and aircard connection. Its easier then trying to get them all wireless.

OK, I contacted Mini-Box which sells this board for Car PC installs. They told me that the board requires 12V @ 4amps. I told them that a needed 6 of these and they wrote that I can safetly run 3 motherboards off of one M4-ATX. They told me that if you run unregulated power to the board, yes you will damage it. If you run it through a PSU though, the board will work perfectly.

Isn't the 945GSE supposed to be the low power version of the 945? Wonder why it needs 50W?

I have no idea.... but I read the manual for the M4, and figured out that I can actually power 3 of these MoBos on 1 M4-ATX.

Also I want to make a correction. The board does not require 12V at 4 amps. More on the lines of 12V at 2 amps. I guess Mini-Box doesnt know what they are talking about, and or they just wanted me to waste money on extra PSUs.

In mini-box's defence - if you fully loaded up all the ports you could probably go over 4 amps. 4 usb ports fully loaded would take 2amps, add the wifi, cpu, gfx, dvi, serial, kb, and you could probably pass 4 amps.
