  • n00b to car pc's need advice.

Hello all. I'm new to car pc's but not to home pc's.
    I have a few questions:

1). I'm thinking about doing this in my 03 expedition, does anyone know of a double din touch screen monitor? or do I have to mod something?

2). can I build a pc with nav, bluetooth, etc. for $1000 or less?

3). Can I keep my aftermarket amps with it? (sub amp and soon component amp)

    The features I want are;

Vista (already have a copy so thats free)
Some kind of open end software
    Bluetooth
    Navi (is a must)
    iTunes
Internet (can hook my blackberry to it for internet service)

and if anyone knows where I can get more information on car pc's feel free to point me to the right direction thanks.

    1. You'll need to mod something.
    2. Probably. An old laptop will likely fit the bill.
    3. Yes.

For more info, check out the FAQ nav bar at the top of the forum and go to the FAQ to the FAQ Emporium by clicking the link in my signature.

      1) yes, see:http://store.mo-co-so.com/index.php?...3ac7gk0iotfhg0
      2) yes, hunt around or buy used from members on this forum.
      3) yes, the phono jack output on the computer is ready to go in the amp. You just need a $5 adaptor from radioshack.
      Good Luck!

            Yup.
Those screens get mounted to the stock radio brackets in your car. They almost always fit as long as your car is double din.

The only thing I might suggest is see if you can't power the lilliput off a regulated 12v line from the M2 in the computer your looking at. I say this because I have heard problems with lilliputs when you go unregulated. Now this is not to say you can't go unregulated but I would check specs if that was the route you wanted to go.
