  • video out/ 2nd monitor resolution problems

    Hi Folks.

I decided to install a flip down DVD player in the rear of my bus (its an old VW split screen camper) so the kids can watch stuff on long journeys, while we still use the carPC up front. I did however want to be able to put the carPC through it's video in so when we were stationary we could have the carPC through that screen as well.

First of all I had a bit of a nightmare getting the VGA signal to a standard video in Jack, but with some scart connectors and a S-Video cable I managed. However I didnt realise the resolution of the DVD monitor is 800x480 (apparently) so it wont show the 800x600 I'm using to display on the touchscreen.

Is there anything I can do with a separate video card or something to get this to work?

The DVD player is this one, by Rosen, the z10. They fit them to Range ROvers and stuff so it's a good quality bit of kit.

My carPC has a MiniITX mainboard and processor, cant remember what it is (I built it about 4 years ago, still going strong) but I do know it has a PCI slot I dont use.

    Any advice appreciated folks!

    Cheers

you might need to get a vga-to-composite converter. it will basically get rid of some of the lines of resolution, so that the computer video will fit on the composite display.
